Final Online Workshop of the ‘Sustainable Research Data Collection for ICH Safeguarding: Focusing on Central Asia and Small Island Developing States’ project held on 28 February 2025

IRCI held the final workshop online for its research project ‘Sustainable Research Data Collection for ICH Safeguarding: Focusing on Central Asia and Small Island Developing States (SIDS)’ (FY 2022–2024)’ on 28 February 2025. This online workshop brought together all partner organizations to conclude the three-year project activities.
Five organizations from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) and seven from SIDS (Fiji, Kiribati, Maldives, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Vanuatu) participated in the workshop. They shared their experiences and challenges encountered during the data collection process and provided ideas and suggestions for future efforts in collecting ICH research information. Additionally, IRCI presented a preview of the new design of the IRCI Research Database, and received feedback on improving its usability and accessibility in the future.

This workshop marked the first time all project partners from both sub-regions gathered together, enabling discussions on common topics beyond subregions related to ICH research and safeguarding, such as the cooperation for safeguarding regionally shared ICH.
